Trainee Audit Assistant

Our client, a well-established firm of Chartered Accountants based in Hertford, is looking to recruit a Trainee Audit Assistant to join their friendly and experienced audit and accounts team. This role is ideal for a part-qualified ACCA or ICAEW candidate who is eager to gain valuable experience and advance their career in audit and accounting.
The Role
As a Trainee Audit Assistant, you will be a key member of the audit and accounts team, gaining significant exposure to audit work during the first part of the calendar year. You will also be involved in a variety of other accounting tasks, including accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT returns, and tax computations. This role offers a comprehensive training experience with a clear pathway for growth and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Part-qualified ACCA or ICAEW (or working towards these qualifications).
- Some experience in audit, accounts preparation, or bookkeeping.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A team player with a willingness to learn and develop.
About You
The ideal candidate will be part-qualified (ACCA or ICAEW) with some experience in audit and accounts. You should be enthusiastic about pursuing a career in accountancy and audit, with a proactive approach to learning and professional development.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing personal tax returns (experience with 400+ returns preferred).
- Strong understanding of UK tax legislation and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines.
- Experience with P11D processing; payroll experience is an advantage.
- Qualification by experience is acceptable, though candidates working towards or holding ACCA/CTA qualifications are encouraged to apply.
