Tax Manager

Our client, an established Chartered Accountants with offices in Hertford and another location, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Tax Manager to join their friendly and supportive tax team. The Role
As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of 400-500 personal tax returns, working with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative team of tax professionals. In addition to managing personal tax returns, you will assist with P11D processing and provide payroll cover during staff holidays as needed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review 400-500 personal tax returns annually.
- Collaborate with a team to manage approximately 1,000 personal tax returns and 350 corporation tax returns (CT600s).
- Assist with P11D processing and provide payroll support during holiday cover.
- Work closely with partners and other team members to deliver high-quality tax services.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Keep up to date with tax legislation and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
About You
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in personal tax and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and enjoys working within a supportive team environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing personal tax returns (experience with 400+ returns preferred).
- Strong understanding of UK tax legislation and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines.
- Experience with P11D processing; payroll experience is an advantage.
- Qualification by experience is acceptable, though candidates working towards or holding ACCA/CTA qualifications are encouraged to apply.
